Marion City Council agreed to convert 3rd St. from Main to Santa Fe Sts. to two-way traffic without eliminating parking spaces but decided too many parking spaces would be lost to convert 2nd and 4th Sts. from one-way to two-way.

County commissioner Dan Holub skewered State Representative John Barker and State Senator Rick Wilborn at a legislative coffee Saturday in Marion for their votes in 2015 to limit city and county governments from raising property taxes more than the rise in the consumer price index unless the public votes in favor of it.

Marion High School wrestlers Bryce Shults and Tyler Palic battled nearly to the top of their brackets at the state 3-2-1A wrestling tournament in Hays. Shults went 4-2 to place fourth at 138 pounds while Palic went 2-3 to place sixth at 195 pounds.

Tamara Christiansen’s booth at Marion County Ladies Fair at the county lake hall was a hopping place Saturday, with women trying on clothes and fingering jewelry. She has transitioned from having the Plantations storefront in Marion to operating a traveling Urbane Soule boutique. Her booth was among 19 at the fair.

Marion High School students of the month, honored in an advertisement sponsored by St. Luke Hospital and Living Center, are senior Bailey Robson, junior Shonda Ratzloff, junior Garrett Alleven, and sophomore Austin Neufeld.
