Marion County commissioners plan a public meeting April 20 to discuss a county economic development position and review a job description.
Judy and Mike Powers are winners of the first Chingawassa Days decorated rhino contest. Their rhino is dressed for Easter, sporting a pink bunny suit complete with cottontail and a basket of colorful eggs.
Junior Erin Carr, who participates in track and field, has been named athlete of the week. She took first in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes and third in the long jump at the first meet of the season Friday.
A mini-museum of law enforcement memorabilia is on display at Marion Police Department. Among the artifacts is the light used in the 1930s to 1960s to alert the town marshal of calls. The signal hung for years on a wire that stretched above Main St. at 3rd St. in downtown Marion.
A photo on the front page shows Jennifer Fruechting sitting atop an elephant, one of the performers Monday at the American All-Star Circus. The circus came to Marion for two performances, each lasting more than 1½ hours. The show under the big top took place on Eisenhower Dr., west of Warrior Stadium.
