A resolution relocating the Pilsen road was passed Monday by county commissioners. The resolution will abandon a proposed bridge over the ditch and dike and proposes a shorter, cheaper bridge over the Cottonwood River, half a mile west of town. The road then will follow section lines to cross US-56 and head to Pilsen.

Alice Gantz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.R. Gantz of Marion, was elected on Valentine’s Day to serve as homecoming queen at Neosho County Community Junior College at Chanute. Alice is a 1974 graduate of Marion High School.

Governor Robert Bennett welcomed area girls as visitors to his office last week while they served as pages for Rep. Pascal Roniger. Marion High School students pictured are Rhonda Richmond, Karen Stevens, and Paula Vinduska.

Those who won door prizes at the annual Goodyear Farm Tire Center open house and pancake feed Friday were Fred Shields of Lincolnville, a water cooler; Gary Hamm, Marion, a lantern; Peggy Summerville, Marion, an indoor-outdoor thermometer; and Henrietta Graves, Marion, a Goodyear jacket.

Concrete Products has erected a new 60-foot cement storage silo at its plant on Commercial St. in Marion. Concrete operations will begin soon, according to owners of the plant.
