Ezra Bernhardt retired from the Marion police force June 1 after more than 20 years of service as a law enforcement officer.

Bernhardt became a member of the sheriff’s department in 1954 and was elected sheriff in 1956. In 1969, after 15 years of service to the county, he joined the Marion police, where he has worked ever since.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller, Lincolnville, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary June 12 with Mass at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen.

Members of Cadet Girl Scout Troop 66 recently planted flowers in front of the historical museum in Marion as a service project.

Pauline Edmunds completed her 25th year of teaching in the Marion schools this year and received special recognition at several occasions last week.

Vernon Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bowers of Marion, graduated magna cum laude May 23 with a degree in religion and philosophy from Bethany College, Lindsborg.

Physician T.C. Ensey of Marion has completed continuing education requirements to retain active membership in the American Academy of Family Physicians, a national association of doctors.
