Athletes from 4 schools qualify for state track meet

A large number of county athletes qualified at regional meets last week to compete Friday and Saturday at the state track and field meet at Wichita State University.

Marion

For the Warrior girls, Kate Wessel will be competing in long jump and triple jump.

Nevaeh Jones also will be in triple jump as well as the 100-meter hurdles.

Caileigh Johnson will compete in the 200-meter dash as well as the pole vault with Hailey Harshman.

Madisyn Hulett will compete in discus, and Dylan Kraus will compete in the 400- and 800-meter runs.

Both of Marion’s girls’ relay teams will be competing as well.

Brylee Smith, Neveah Jones, Kate Wessel, and Caileigh Johnson will run the 4x100 relay.

Dylan Kraus, Kate Wessel, Caileigh Johnson, and Brylee Smith will run the 4x400.

And Dylan Kraus, Hailey Harshman, Kaelynn Metro, and Maria Carlson will run the 4x800.

On the boys’ side, Jackson Howard will compete in discus and shot put.

Sam Rziha will pole vault, and Wyatt Soyez will run the 200.

Cooper Jirak will compete in the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Landon Hendricks, Isaac Wesner, Tripp Peterson, and Wyatt Soyez will run the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Jordy Raymer, Eli Klenda, Zayden Janzen, and Harrison Beery will run the 4x800 relay.

Hillsboro

On the girls’ side, Quinlyn Funk and Jaidyn Frantz will compete in the 3200-meter run.

Riley Richert will pole vault, Daisy Klein will compete in javelin, and Emily Gilkey will high jump.

Gilkey, Klein, and Richert will be joined with Addison Jost for the 4x400 relay.

Jost, Richert, Frantz, and Funk will complete in the 4x800 relay.

On the boys’ side, Aaron Hein will run the 200.

Hein will join Koehn Janzen, Preston D’Ablini, and Peter Farha in the 4x100 relay.

Goessel

Eli Gaeddert will represent Goessel boys in running the 800, 1600, and 3200.

On the girls’ side, Athena Funk will run in the 100-meter dash and compete in pole vault.

Nivea Funk also will run in the 100 and compete in the 100-meter hurdles.

Delaney Duerksen will compete in 100 and 300 hurdles.

The girls’ 4x100 relay team also will compete.

Centre

Centre will be sending one athlete to state, Jaycee Stika.

She will be running the 100 hurdles Friday and if she qualifies, in the finals Saturday.
