Bernice Beach
Services for Bernice Addie Beach, 87, who passed away very peacefully, surrounded by family, Thursday, April 2, 2026, at her home in Augusta, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026, at the chapel. Burial will be in Leon Cemetery, Leon.
Bernice was born Dec. 4, 1938, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, to Lois (Furr) and Luke McCombs.
She married James “Jim” Beach Jr. on Dec. 15, 1959. He preceded her in death.
Bernice enjoyed working hard, whether it was on the family farm, caring for her family, or at HRK Warehouse in Marion, the store she and Jim built and operated for more than 35 years.
Everything she did was with a positive attitude that was infectious and with dedication and love.
She was passionate about being involved in whichever community that she was in, sharing time between the farm in Butler County and HRK in Marion County.
Her involvement included being a member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce and as an active leader in 4-H, EHU, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and PTA.
She spent many hours attending any and all school activities of her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, and family friends.
She rarely missed ballgames, wrestling matches, grandparents’ days, school plays, or any other event that included her family.
Bernice also was a talented seamstress and made many of her husband’s and family’s clothes over the years.
She also enjoyed photography, gardening, fishing, and anything that allowed her to be outside. If you knew her, you liked her.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, L.B. McCombs; sister, Kay Justice; and grandchildren Tony, Misty, and Jessey.
She is survived by son Jim Beach and partner Jaclyn; daughters Jan Lanier and husband Steve, Peggy Gomez, Connie Donnely and husband Tim, Charlotte Door, Sherry Pressler and husband Ronnie, and Sally Beach; bonus daughter / granddaughter Wendy Simon and husband Stacy; sister Louise Arnold; brother Jim “Lucky” Ball and wife Lona; grandchildren Jon, Jacob, Jessica, Corey, Ben, Denise, Sherry, Eddie, Tamara, Ronnie, Wesley, C.J., Scott, Jamie, Timmy, Casey, Brian, Kenny, Kelly, Rebecca; and numerous great- and great-great grandchildren.
Bernice so appreciated the love and care of Dr. Matthew Meschke for nearly 20 years.
