Staff writer

Centre’s lone golfer won the Solomon Invitational Thursday in Salina with a score of 76.

“He started out well, shooting four under in the first four holes going birdie, par, birdie, eagle,” coach Kelly Whitley said.

Glessner held on to win by one stroke.

“With this being the first tournament this year, I think he did quite well,” Whitley said. “We look forward to the next tournament.”

Glessner will be in Herington on Thursday for his next invitational.

Goessel

In their first meet of the spring season, Goessel golfers gained experience.

Levi Schrag placed fifth in a Solomon meet at the Great Life Golf Course in Salina with a score of 83.

Goessel team will be at Hillsboro on Friday.

Marion

The Warriors finished ninth as a team Thursday in Salina.

“The meet was a learning experience for our new players,” coach Max Venable said.

Jayden Stiver led the team with a 26th place finish.

“He shot 100 in his first golf meet ever,” Venable said.

Jacob Tharp finished 33rd, and Ryan Tharp finished 37th.

Marion’s next varsity invitational will be Monday at Carey Park, Hutchinson.

Hillsboro

The Trojans will be hosts for their annual invitational Friday at the Hillsboro Municipal golf course.

Goessel will be the only other team from the county.
