SHERIFF

Citing a staff member’s vacation, the sheriff’s department has not released any offense reports since May 29.

HILLSBORO

Firearm theft, firearm possession by felon, interfering with police

Employee Ray C. Stringer, 36, Durham, was arrested after a pistol, reported missing at 10:21 a.m. June 3 from a customer’s vehicle at Jost Fabrication, was found in Stringer’s vehicle.

He was taken to Marion County Jail and held in lieu of posting a $100,000 bond.

Revoked license, no insurance, no tag light

Skyler R. Bryant, 29, Hillsboro, was arrested after his vehicle was stopped at 12:34 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of W. D St. for having a defective license plate light.

He was accused of having no vehicle liability insurance and driving while his license was canceled, suspended, or revoked.

Bryant was jailed and released 7½ hours later after posting a $2,000 bond.

Marijuana possession

A passenger in a vehicle stopped at 3:26 a.m. Thursday for running a stop sign was arrested after police seized an estimated 25.5 grams of marijuana, enough for up to 75 “joints.”

Deven J. Johnson, 28, Los Angeles, was jailed on suspicion of possessing marijuana. He was released four hours later after posting a $2,000 bond.

MARION

Worthless checks

Carlsons’ Grocery reported June 2 that it had received worthless checks from one or more customers not identified in official offense reports released Monday.

One check reportedly was passed April 30. The other was listed as being passed June 15, 2025.

Criminal threat, disorderly conduct

Alcohol is suspected of playing a role in a disturbance at 10:10 p.m. June 2 in a parking area for an apartment in the 400 block of N. 2nd St.

Derek A. Gautschi, 35, Marion, was jailed on suspicion of disorderly conduct even though an offense report also alleges that a 40-year-old male friend who lives in the apartment was criminally threatened.

Gautschi was released Thursday after posting a $1,000 bond.
