ACTIVITY REPORTS

Law enforcement agencies provided these reports of their activities this past week. Routine activities such as patrols, inspections, training, report-writing, and assistance to other agencies generally are excluded. Dates may reflect starting or ending dates of officers’ shifts rather than actual dates of occurrence.

HILLSBORO

Jan. 26 — Police helped a driver stuck in snow.

Jan. 27 — A dog loose at Ampride was captured and returned to its owner.

Jan. 28 — Police checked a report of a door open on an automatic teller machine and helped a resident with a civil issue.

Thursday — A traffic stop for a defective headline may result in drug charges. A driver was ticketed for running a stop sign in the 300 block of E. Grand Ave. No problems were found in checking on a resident of the 200 block of S. Washington St.

Friday — Routine activities.

Saturday — Owners were told to remove vehicles blocking driveways near the high school gymnasium. A minor accident in the Dollar General parking lot was determined not to merit an accident report. Police helped a driver stuck in snow in the 400 block of N. Ash St.

Sunday — Routine activities.

MARION

Jan. 26 — Two loose dogs were taken to a veterinary clinic. Police found no problems when checking on reports of someone walking through yards in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. and of a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway in the 400 block of N. Freeborn St. A resident of the 300 block of Locust St. lodged a complaint that police determined was a civil issue.

Jan. 27 — A vehicle was reported as abandoned in the 100 block of W. Santa Fe St.

Jan. 28 — A dog loose in the 200 block of Locust St. was taken back to its owner. A resident complained about a trespasser, and police helped the sheriff’s department with a trespassing complaint near 175th and Sunrise Rds.

Thursday — Police investigated a non-injury accident in the 100 block of S. Cedar St., helped Hillsboro police with a drunken driving investigation, and helped the sheriff’s department with a burglar alarm in Florence.

Friday –- Police determined there was no problem in investigating an animal abuse complaint in the 1000 block of Hudson St. A driver was warned for speeding at Main and 3rd Sts. Another driver, Ivan G. Flanagan, 25, Wichita, was arrested at Main and Elm Sts. for speeding, driving with a revoked license, and having no proof of vehicle liability insurance.
