Also accused of intimidation in case spanning two years

Staff writer

Fired Peabody-Burns High School vocational agriculture teacher Brett McGee is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a student, now 16, over a period spanning nearly two years and of attempting to interfere with the case.

McGee faces 11 felony charges, including nine counts of unlawful sexual relations and one of aggravated indecent liberties, ahead of an initial appearance set for 1 p.m. March 25 in Marion County District Court.

McGee is being held in McPherson County Jail in lieu of posting a $250,000 surety bond.

A complaint alleges one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child age 14 to 16 on or about Feb. 21, 2024.

The complaint alleges nine counts of unlawful sexual relations between June 9, 2025, and Jan. 1, 2026, with the same child

The complaint also includes a charge of aggravated intimidation of a witness or victim. It alleges that around Feb. 20, 2026, McGee deleted messages from his phone to interfere with administration of justice and dissuade a victim or witness under 18.

McGee was arrested in late February.

He was terminated after the school board met in executive session Feb. 23.
