Teresa Medina
A vigil service for former Florence resident Teresa Medina, 88, who passed away March 12, 2026, in Augusta, was 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Florence.
Rosary was at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at St. Patrick, with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, followed by a luncheon.
Teresa’s life began Jan. 21, 1938, in Guanajuato, Mexico, a daughter of Alberto and Gavina (Aza) Perez.
Teresa worked at Town & Country Café in Florence along with the library, Florence City Hall, and Williams Service. Teresa also worked as a seamstress for Marion Dry Cleaners.
She was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish, attending St. Patrick Catholic Church in Florence.
Teresa loved to crochet, knit, and garden. She and her family had a large garden of flowers and vegetables and spent many days tending to the garden and canning produce.
Teresa’s family often would have large family gatherings, and plenty of food would be prepared. Teresa loved cooking and feeding her family and friends.
Teresa and her family ran a taco stand for many years during the Florence Labor Day celebration.
Teresa was a very skilled seamstress. She would sew clothing and dresses for her family and even made several wedding, bridesmaid, and flower girl dresses.
Teresa is survived by her daughters, Juanita (and husband Timothy) Wilson of Augusta; Maria (and husband Marc) Anderson of Independence, Kentucky; Patricia Medina of Independence, Kentucky; and Isabel Purcell (and fiancée Mark Wickman) of Helena, Montana; brothers Ramon and Antonio; sister Catalina; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mauro Medina; parents Alberto and Gavina, brothers Jesus, Rosalio, Edwardo, Manuel, and Alberto; and sisters Hermelinda, Carmen, and Justa.
