The Warriors softball lost their first home games of the season Thursday, 18-1 and 21-1, against Sterling. Marion boys weren’t scheduled to play.
Marion girls and boys will be on the road Friday against Little River.
Hillsboro’s softball team dropped two to Haven at home Thursday, losing 10-0 and 21-9.
“Right now, my main goal is to help the girls build confidence and recognize the progress we’re making each game by continuing to apply our skills in real situations,” coach Alyssa May said. “With such a young team, I’m also looking for players to step into leadership roles — girls who can encourage their teammates, stay positive, and help set the tone both now and in the coming years.
“It’s easy to feel discouraged after a few tough losses, but what matters most is that we stay team-focused, remain coachable, and keep improving as the season goes on.”
The boys also lost both baseball games at home Thursday to Haven, 18-1 and 5-4.
The Trojans will be on the road this Friday against Smoky Valley.
